ABOUT

I’m Jake Wagner, an audio producer and mix/mastering engineer based in Minneapolis. Throughout my career I have been fortunate to work within a variety of professional environments including recording studios, live music, video games, and post-production.

Before building my home studio in Minneapolis, I lived in New York City for 6 years, where I was chief engineer and studio manager for No Shame Records. At No Shame’s boutique studio in SoHo I produced music with established and upcoming artists alike, including Antoine Drye, Mark Whitfield, Ski Beatz, Black Taxi, Walking Shapes, and Pompeya. Under No Shame’s diverse umbrella, I also served as head engineer for the “House of Creatives” YouTube series, which has featured Natalie Lafourcade, X Ambassadors, Poolside, The Colourist, Mini Mansions… During this period, I also took some time to study with legendary producers Andrew Scheps and Joe Chicarelli at “Mix with the Masters” in the south of France.

Not just a studio wiz of course, I spend time in the live music side as well. I’ve worked events for The Flaming Lips, Crystal Castles, Cold War Kids, New Power Generation, and The Revolution. While in NYC I also worked at Soho House New York, where I did live sound for VIP private events for celebrated artists including Madonna, P Diddy, and Billie Eilish.

Breaking into the video game scene in 2016, I found myself the music director for an indie titled “AVARIAvs”. Overseeing the entirety of the game’s auditory experience, I also did sound design, mixing, and the audio integration via Wwise. Since then, I have continued to provide sound design services to video game developers in the NYC area.

I owe my introduction to the art of music to my good friend Jeff Victor. He’s inspired and sparked a greater understanding of the music industry for me. Also in the early years, I mentored under Grammy-nominated producer, Rob Genadek, after attending The Institute of Production and Recording in 2002-2004. Beyond that I went on to spend a couple years working as an assistant engineer at the former Flyte Time studios alongside Jeff “MadJef” Taylor. There I was lucky to work with some of the greatest musicians Minneapolis has to offer.

It all started with that youthful crave and passion for music. Playing in bands, learning instruments, breaking the rules. It’s that feral care-free passion. Those free-spirited and unobstructed ideas are what still guide me today.
